FAQ: Indie Bookstore Questions

My store is a member of the American Booksellers Association, so why does it not appear as an option for book purchases?

The IndieBound store search includes only bookstore members in good standing with the American Booksellers Association. From a book product page, however, it offers links only to those member websites that have full ecommerce capability, so the customer can complete the purchase transaction online. ABA members without full ecommerce capability might consider switching to an IndieCommerce or IndieLite website. For more information about ecommerce options, email staff@bookweb.org.

My store is a member of the American Booksellers Association and offers ecommerce, so why does it not appear as an option for book purchase?

Our apologies! We do our best to keep our database up to date, but it sounds like we missed your website on our last check. Please email staff@bookweb.org and we'll get you added promptly. Keep in mind, in order for us to refer traffic to you, we'll need a way to pass an ISBN to your site so you can show the customer the book they are looking to buy.

My store is a member of the American Booksellers Association but it is not listed in your indie store search, or is it listed incorrectly. What do I do?

Sometimes the ABA member store database incorrectly populates the IndieBound.org store search. If you feel your store should be listed, or if the listing is incorrect, please email info@bookweb.org with the specifics.

How do I get my store listed on IndieBound.org? I am not a member of the American Booksellers Association.

IndieBound.org is a program of the American Booksellers Association, so only members are listed in the store finder. If a member has a ecommerce-capable website, then it will be returned in search results for people looking to buy a book online. So, the quick answer to how to get on the site is to join ABA! You can read more about ABA, what we do, and how we can help your business at BookWeb.org.
